The City of Independence, Missouri has retained Kimley-Horn and Associates to develop plans for the improvements of Winner Road between Route 24 and Hedges Avenue, located immediately west of the Englewood Arts District. This 1.5-mile corridor ranges
connects the Englewood Arts District, Van Horn High School, and numerous residential neighborhoods, churches, and businesses. In addition to improving the pavement, this project also contemplates enhanced storm water improvements, sidewalks, street lighting, and a multi-use path to connect the community.
Open House Meeting Materials
An open house public meeting was held on March 28, 2024, at Van Horn High School from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Background information along the corridor is presented for your information, along with some potential improvements to generate conversation. While a preferred alternative is the eventual outcome of this process, the options shown tonight, and online, are to introduce concepts and generate discussion. The preferred alternative may be either of the options shown, a combination of the two, or a new concept that arises out of public input.
